When I came to Wen Wu School in 1994, I had a severe case of shingles which affected my short-term memory and I suffered from toxicity caused by chemical exposure from materials used in buildings. I had no energy, sleeping 16 hours a day. Dayan qigong helped me regain my vitality and I began my qigong practice and teaching in earnest! Essential Wellness Symposium: Deepen into Plant Spirit Medicine ~
Hotel Monaco, Portland, Oregon
January 10th 10:00 am to 5:00pm
The day will be an exploration of deepening into our daily practice of energetic and cellular health. In all of our daily practices: energetic, spiritual, emotional, and physical, we nurture ourselves and the world around us. We will discuss and uncover why we believe essential oils to be very safe in our daily practices of self care, and how to utilize them to support our adrenals, energetics, and overall cellular health. The afternoon will be experiential and participatory as we learn how to incorporate simple practices in meditation and qi movement and how essential oils work synergistically to complement such practices. Our morning will consist of two lectures by Naturopathic physicians: Dr. Louise Rose ND will present her Lecture "Concerns and Considerations of Essential Oil Safety", previously presented only for Certified Medical Education, followed by Dr. Jennifer Tufenkian N.D., presenting on "Adrenals and Essential Oil Therapetics".
In our afternoon session, we are proud to present Mica Carew N.D., LAc, and Kathryn Langstaff, Essential Qi.
Dr. Mica Carew has been a licensed naturopath and acupuncturist since 2000. Her practice weaves together her traditional Native American upbringing with her formal training in Chinese medicine. She has created a meditation called the "Living Grace Meditation" that reflects the same alchemy of ancient traditions that she utilizes in her practice. She will share with us how to utilize this meditation to practice plant spirit medicine with the essential oils.
Kathryn Langstaff, Co-Founder of the Wen Wu School Portland, is a certified Qi Gong Instructor specializing in subtle energy healing. She will teach and explore with us the intersections between Qi Gong, the movements of Qi, and essential oil frequencies.

The Heart and Chinese 5-Element Emotional Healing Tamara Staudt “Most illness in our western culture is indeed illness of the Heart and we are looking for answers – hoping to counter this distress of disconnection… Wang Fengyi offers a solution, cutting straight to the chase and telling us unequivocally, if we are to live lives that honor our magnificence and the fullness of our human potential it is our Heart that needs rectifying. In this context, we refer to the larger Heart spoken of in Wisdom teaching throughout time—that which is an organ of inner alignment, complete ability and connection. This Heart allows us to be guided by and aligned with our divinity while having a human experience.”
– Tamara Staudt, Preface to Twelve Characters: A Transmission of Wang Fengyi’s Teachings, translated by Sabine Wilms 2014 JULY 16THNew Gesture for the Heart

JULY 23RDThe Energy of Sound: Let Music Guide You
Our universe is flowing all around and through us. We can either be pummeled by its waves or learn to surf them. We can use the harmonies and disharmonies of life to resist or to align with the flow. Aware or not, we are feeling everything. Kendra, a musical seamstress and owner of an experiential music school, Swaha Studios, shows us how we can allow music to guide us in our dance with peace of mind. KENDRA CARPENTER Kendra Carpenter was pulled to the piano at age three, friends-for-life with it by age four. I was drawn to the cello at age twelve, completely in love with it by age fourteen. Soon after I was expanded and enlightened by University of Denver professor Richard Slavich for several years, then blessed with a full scholarship to the University of Colorado in Boulder where I was further inspired and instructed by Dr. Judith Glyde. After graduating with degrees in Music Performance and Environmental Design, I spent the next decade working and teaching and performing throughout the Rocky Mountains of Colorado… everything from summer festivals to weddings, elementary schools to patient rooms in hospitals, bars to stages, and backyards to yoga centers. In addition to being totally into that state of bliss that often comes from making music, I also love, and I mean love, snowboarding, kayaking, traveling, raw food, yoga, backpacking adventures, learning something new, dancing and… of course, really yummy (raw) desserts! I’ve been honored and blessed with experiences like: being a guest artist with the Sam Houston State University Ballet Company; performing with Yo Yo Ma, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and the Denver Young Artists Orchestra; offering seminars on leadership, lifestyle wellness and the healing vibrations of music; running a marathon and an ULTRA marathon; and traveling to perform in places like Japan, England, Ecuador, Germany and Austria. |

"It’s the time of infinite possibilities, of desires bubbling over and manifesting themselves in our lives in ways we never thought possible.
No matter what has come in or out of our lives in the past few years, once in a while we are given the chance to have everything we’ve always wanted—we just have to make the choice now to not let it go. Because certain chances only come around once in a blue moon." |
Meet us at the East end of the Firwood Lake and please RSVP so we know you will be there!
